Trailer Valet XL Mounting Bracket

I bought this mounting bracket for our 27’ Airstream travel trailer for a more stable way to use the Trailer Valet XL. Prior to using the mount, it was difficult to keep the Trailer Valet upright. Now it’s secure and worry free with the solid mount.1530795

After a year of use I wish I’d bought this sooner! My only issue is due to the placement so far back on the frame, it’s hard to swing the TrailerValet handle to the left hits the propane tank.

This bracket is a very welcome addition to my Trailer Valet XL. I bought the Trailer Valet XL a few years ago from etrailer. I have a 16 ft trailer that is about 3,000 lbs. I have a narrow driveway that ends in a 30 ft. by 30 ft. pad in front of my garage at the end of the driveway. The only way to manage my trailer is to drive up the driveway and put my car into the garage, then uncouple the trailer and hand move the trailer around out of the way to its parking space. As you can imagine, there is quite a bit of jockeying when limited by this small area. The Trailer Valet made that maneuvering much easier than pushing the trailer by hand and back.

However, I noticed this last year that when moving the trailer, it was hard to keep the Trailer Valet vertical when installed into the trailer ball hitch no matter how hard I tightened the retaining ring into the ball socket. During one of the trailer moves, the Trailer Valet leaned quite a bit more than usual and then actually fell out. What I found was that leverage of the angled Trailer Valet in combination with the trailer tongue weight broke the welds on the trailer ball retaining clip. I was able to get the clip back into position and rewelded, but it made me uneasy about using the Trailer Valet as it was originally designed. I started looking for parts and/or a means to attach the Trailer Valet directly to the hitch without using the ball attachment. That is when I discovered this mounting bracket, which is exactly what I needed.

The tongue on my trailer is relatively short with a lot of stuff sitting on it, so I was concerned about having the 8" free space to attach the mounting bracket as mentioned in the product description. For my situation, at least initially, I have attached one end of the bracket across the frame as designed, and then bought a couple of longer bolts in order to attach the front bracket end across the tongue (photos attached). The back attachment retainer is against the trailer hitch plate so keeps the Trailer Valet bracket from sliding forward. For my light trailer, I don't think the front bolts being at an angle will be a problem, but might be something to consider for a heavy trailer. This setup seems to work ok for me, and I have no more worries about damaging the trailer hitch ball retaining clip.

I won't be leaving the bracket attached to the trailer tongue "permanently" as the bracket system weighs about 15 lbs, and is also kind of bulky. Plus I don't want to leave it exposed to the weather. It is only 4 bolts to attach it, so should be relatively easy to attach and remove for those occasions when I need it.

I have bought several items from etrailer and have been very satisfied with their product selection, price, and service. This bracket was the same price at both etrailer and Amazon, so it was an easy choice for me to support the smaller business. There was one glitch in shipping the bracket to me, which was that a part was accidentally left out. A phone call to etrailer customer service on the day the initial package arrived, quickly resolved the problem with the missing part being sent out immediately.

Can't give it a full review yet. Just mounted it to the trailer frame this morning. Fits well on the 2x6 Toy Hauler frame without any air gap between the bottom bolt and the frame. I'll put the trailer away next Monday and I'll know for sure if it's more secure than the ball connection method.1178768

Without this product the Trailer Valet is much harder to use. The hitch ball unit included with the trailer doesn't work well, it walks out from under the hitch coupler and could be a safety issue. The mounting bracket should be included with the Trailer Valet rather than the hitch balls.1402454

This product was the answer to a problem i had trying to move a 22 foot boat and trailer with dual wheels.after purchasing a Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly with Chain Drive i had damaged my trailer hitch on 2 different occasions. i was about to sell it when i noticed a fix for the problem. it was the TVXLMB. This product had made the trailer valet a usable product. the boar and trailer are approaching the weight limits for the devise ant this product make for a secure connection without any more damage to my hitch. i would recommend this product i have owned these for more than a year now and i feel this is a reasonable working solution. a big thanks to etrailer.com for making the transaction effortless. product was well packed with no damage and all the pieces were where they were suppose to be.844893

I purchased this Trailer Valet XL Mounting Bracket for my Trailer Valet XL. If you don't have a trailer valet, and you have a tight spot to maneuver your trailer, buy a trailer valet! They are amazing products. The Trailer Valet XL is very capable, but this mount makes it more strurdy and less wobbly when moving my trailer vs using the XL's ball mount position. I also own a regular Trailer Valet (not the XL) and as such my boat trailer already has the regular valet bracket mounted to the tongue. This XL valet male end fits perfectly in the female portion of the regular valet bracket (see attached picture). This allows me to use my XL bracket on my heavier RV trailer and also the XL male end on my boat trailer with the original trailer valet bracket female end. Either way, you will not be disappointed with this product! As always, etrailer shipped the product promptly and it arrived in great condition. I will continue to do business with etrailer for the foreseeable future as I have for the past 5 years due to their great selection, prices, and excellent customer service!1124831

The mounting bracket enables use of the trailer valet on trailers that do not use a standard ball mount. I use it on a large hydraulic boat trailer that uses a pintle hook instead of a ball mount. The bracket mounts on the trailer frame or the tow bar.1162310
